Any attempt at representation was once anathema to abstract painters and sculptors who discarded the perceptible image in favor of Utopian ideologies. Rauschenburg and Johns forever altered the boundaries of Dadaism and abstraction by aestheticizing the readymade, simultaneously reinventing and nullifying both ideologies. In Between the Sheets explores the transitional space connecting the abstract and the tangible.
