Christian Lacroix continually inspires me. He is one of those rare breeds of people who truly pursues his own vision, and who does not blindly follow current trends and conventions. When he first entered the fashion scene in the late eighties, everyone else was making easy, tasteful, and incredibly marketable minimalist designs. He caught everyone off guard with his fiercely individualistic maximalism and untamable sense of color. In Lacroix’s complex world vision, contradicting colors and designs clash, collide, and create a brilliantly decadent cacophony.
I love how the Lacroix gown in the image above devours and consumes, and takes over the neat, little acsetic mid-century interior.
